Support System

“Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.” (Deuteronomy 33:12)

It’s a scene that unfolds every season: one woman’s husband steps onto the bump and toes the rubber. She holds her breath. Another woman’s husband steps into the box and digs in. She holds her breath. They both pray silently that their husband is successful, knowing the crowd will be merciless.

The successful man will be cheered and the un-successful man will be heckled. Each wife sitting in the stands supports her husband completely, win or lose. Yet, no matter the result, she will be waiting in the wings when it is time to go home with open arms to say, “I love you, you gave it your best and I’m proud of you!”

In the game of life, isn’t it nice that God waits in the wings for us too? When we step into those clutch moments, He is there in the stands supporting us, win or lose. Psalm 94:18-19 reads “When I felt like my foot was slipping, your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your comfort brought joy to my soul.”

Do not fear. We, like our husbands, have an amazing support system! At the end of the day, let us rejoice that we are surrounded by such an amazing love. Our God will be waiting for us with open arms when it is time to go home, saying, “I love you, you gave it your best and I am proud of you!”

Thanks Be to God!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for sending your son Jesus, my ultimate support system. May I daily seek out ways to show His amazing love with others. Amen.
