Nothing Can Separate Us

“No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5)

Separation from people you love is never an easy task. At times, it can make this baseball lifestyle seem almost unbearable. We need comfort; we need a helping hand; we need companionship - and yet we find ourselves wondering where all those people are who love us so very much. As humans we will never stop having needs that other people can meet.

As I was thinking back over my life, four things came to mind that have separated me from someone I love. I will call them the four D's: Divorce, Demands, Distance, and Death.

DIVORCE - My parents divorced when I was young so I grew up only seeing my dad on weekends. The weekdays brought unwanted separation.

DEMANDS - like those required by baseball, caused my husband to be on the road for days at a time.

DISTANCE -hundreds of miles to be exact, separated me from my family and friends for eight months out of the year.

DEATH - The hardest separation I ever had to deal with was when my grandmother went home to be with the Lord. Knowing where she is brings me great comfort, but being on this earth without her is so hard. Many of you know what I'm feeling.

Through all of this, God has reminded me that no one will ever be able to meet all my needs except HIM. He is the one who will ALWAYS be there to comfort me, help me, and be my companion. NOTHING can separate me from Him - not divorce, not demands, not distance, not even death.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

Prayer: Father, thank You for always being here.
