Peace I Give You

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27)

Troubled and fearful! Do those words cause a weird feeling in your stomach? With Spring Training right around the corner, many baseball families have these feelings. I know that many of you might still waiting for a job, so consider this scripture especially meant for you. Hopefully it helps you not worry as much. No matter what, God has never failed and He always provides right on time – His perfect time.

John 14:27 was exactly what I needed today (Isn’t God good like that?). I needed to be reminded that I have His peace always. He gave it to me years ago, and it truly is His peace – “not as the world gives.” His peace surpasses all comprehension and guards our heart and mind in Christ (Philippians 4:7). It’s up to us to allow His peace to guard our hearts instead of letting them be troubled and fearful. In other words, God wants us to replace trouble and fear with His peace.

So, dear friend, if you find yourself in a troubled and fearful state today, ask the Holy Spirit to bring alive the peace God’s given you. And let me encourage those of you who are uncertain concerning a job this season – God will provide. It’s His name – Jehovah Jireh. However, we must remember that He will provide in His time and in His way. It may not be exactly when we want it or even what we want, but it will be what’s best for us. Our job is to be thankful and faithful servants.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your peace, which is much better than trouble and fear. Thank You for being our Provider. We trust You; lead us in Your path. Our desire is to follow You even if it’s down a road we may not have traveled before. Thank You for loving us more than we can fathom. We love You.
