Feeling Anxious?

"Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” (Matthew 6:34)

It's February. Christmas is past, January is over, and we’re already into the second month of a new year. In the world of baseball, that means the off-season is over and spring training is gearing up. More often than not, feelings of worry and anxiety kick in regarding all the details of spring training as well as the season. Even after being away from the game for 10 years, I still get those feelings this time of year!

It doesn't take long in professional baseball to realize how little control we have over who we play for, where we will live, or for how long our husbands will play. Add to that the worry of what to pack, what to leave home, how much everything will cost, how will we get there . . . the list seems to go on and on. There are so many details that go along with playing pro ball and we would be remiss to think they are going to take care of themselves. Baseball wives have learned to take action but worry does not have to be one of them!

In the twelve years that my husband played professional baseball I learned some very important things:

1)  to be Practical - almost to a fault!

2)  to Plan - back up plans are a must!

3)  to be Patient - I never was very patient so I got lots of practice!

4) and to Pray, Pray, Pray!!

Prayer helps us keep our focus on who's in control, why we're here, and what we are living for. It directs us to the One who deserves to be the center of our lives.

Don't let worry rob you of that focus.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for being my Rock no matter what time of year it is or what is going on. Please help me to always focus on you.
