I Will Praise You

"I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of your wonders." (Psalm 9:1)

Have you ever had that moment when God clearly convicts you? I had been fervently praying for my husband’s health and healing when I began to realize he was getting better. Yet, I had not even stopped to praise our ultimate healer for my answered prayer.

Have you ever become so focused on praying for things and circumstances in your life that you don't even notice when He has answered? Lord, please let my husband be healthy again. Lord, let our team play well. Lord, please help our friends have the baby they long for. Lord please, please, please.

He always proves faithful according to His will, but how many times do we accept it and go on with our lives? How many times do we not stop and just praise Him for providing and caring for us. Or for that matter, just stop and praise Him. "I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High" (Psalm 9:2).

As I continued to study the Psalms, a book filled with a full array of emotions, God spoke to me through Psalm 34:1; "I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips." To extol is to lift up, glorify and praise highly! Did you catch that? At all times. Always. Not just when he has answered our prayers and provided for us!

As we can relate to, it's not as easy to praise Him when things are rough and you are enduring difficult times. However, in those moments He wants us to praise Him too. Praise Him for the good He is working through those tough times, even when it seems there is no good at all. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)

Praise him for the opportunity to show the hope you have in Him!

Prayer: Lord, I praise you for the good and bad in my life! I am so thankful for your presence and strength through both. I know that your will is perfect and every circumstance has passed through your hands first. May you receive the praise, honor and glory in all we do.
