The Lives Around Us

"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect..." (1 Peter 3:15)

There have been very few times in our long baseball career where I have not been looking ahead to the "next level". Whether the next level was a promotion, a better contract, or a new adventure, most of the time my focus has been on whatever is next.

But looking back, I can clearly see how at each level, on each team, in each situation over the years, God was putting us in a place where we could speak into the lives of those around us.

God has given your husband (or boyfriend) the talent to play professional baseball. This blessing comes with a purpose - Whether you have a huge platform in the big leagues or a bleacher seat in the minors, you have the opportunity to shine God's light on those around you.

There are people out there who would never set foot in a church or listen to a pastor, but they will listen to you. Isn't that amazing? I think sometimes as the girl in the stands, we can feel like we're just sitting around, wondering what our purpose is. But our purpose is right there - the people around us!

So be encouraged. Baseball life feels random and frustrating at times. But the simple truth is, God can use every situation to reach the ones He loves...if we would only let Him.

Prayer: God thank You that we always have purpose when we focus on You. Help us be a light to those around us no matter where we are.
