Let Your Light Shine

"In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)

Have you ever experienced days in your walk with Christ where you are just so uncertain of what is ahead and how God is trying to use you currently and potentially? Or perhaps there is so much ahead of you and you’re not exactly sure how God is wanting you to use the blessings He has gifted you with? Maybe, along with those, even a feeling of guilt that God couldn’t possibly use little ol’ you to spread His word through the platform you’ve been given.

I have found that I can get caught in a slump of not feeling worthy to speak God’s word into others because of the lies Satan tells me. The devil likes to often tell us that who we are in our exact situation (certain or uncertain) is not good enough to spread the gospel. We can so easily believe lies that tell us we need more success and perfection to shine our light...because who are we as sinners to share Gods word?

It seems almost second nature to follow the ways of our culture about how we should live our lives, especially with social media. But, thankfully, Jesus Christ has saved us from our sins and was the only perfect and sinless human example to ever walk this earth. Taking the time to read scripture is a soulful reminder that we, as believers, are all meant to and are all worthy enough to share God's word.

While so many of us are gearing up for an exciting season ahead (or still unsure of where that is), God is prepping our hearts and minds to reach the lives of everyone who crosses our path. Not just by having conversations about Him, but through our actions! From the way we walk with a smile on our face to the way we have joy and help others.

In Matthew 5:14-16 scripture tells us, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill can’t be hidden. Also, people do not light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand. Then it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.”

As believers in Jesus Christ, there is not enough darkness or uncertainty in the world to take away your beautiful, single light! This season be the light that God tells us to be! Speak kindly and boldly profess why you have joy in everything you do. As trials will surely come, they will also leave… God has taken care of us amid uncertainty, as well as success. We are His light and scripture has prompted us to shine onto others so He will be glorified! Be a beacon of truth and spread Gods love this season to EVERYONE!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank you for giving us Jesus Christ as the ultimate and truest example of sinlessness and perfection. Thank you for giving us a light that can’t be broken by darkness and glorifies you! Lord, I pray that as we prepare for this upcoming season of life, we allow ourselves to embrace all that you are: holy, righteous, mighty, consistent and everlasting. Prepare our hearts to be the reason more people will spend eternity with you. I pray this all in Jesus name, Amen.
