Partake of His Divine Nature

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

In my Bible next to this verse is this quote: Prayer is the gracious invitation to partake in the divine nature of God. When we pray we enter into the throne room of God and talk to Him. Notice that this verse tells us to turn our worries into prayers. When we are praying about our problems, we are there with God, giving them to Him. And His power goes to work for us. “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire” (2 Peter 1:3-4).

When we turn our worries into prayers, the Lord promises to help us, because He cares for us. “Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you”  (1 Peter 5:7).

Notice the progression of our theme verse: Don’t be controlled by worry (that is what “anxious” really means): take everything to God in prayer and supplications (asking God to help); all the while being thankful knowing that you are talking to the God of the universe and He has the power to help; but even more so cares so much about you He wants to and will help you.

Remember that prayer is the gracious invitation to partake in the divine nature of God!

Question: What concerns do you have right now? Are you willing to give them to Jesus?

Challenge: Take time each day to visit the Throne Room of God Almighty. Give everything to Him.

Prayer: Lord thank You for caring for all my concerns and needs. Help me to give everything over to you in prayer right now.
