Happy New Year

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17)

I'm a huge fan of New Year's Day. Whatever resolutions and goals I didn't reach last year are in the past. I'm now looking forward with a fresh start, a blank slate, a brand new year, what could be better?

New Year's Day is a tangible reminder of being separated from my sin by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

No matter what happened last year, last week, or last night, I am clean.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (1 Peter 1:3)

And no matter what resolutions and goals I reach or fail at this year, I have peace knowing that nothing can separate me from the love of God.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38)

So as you set your sights on the new year, keep this eternal perspective in mind. You are loved, you are redeemed, you are free.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:1-2)

Join us as we read the Bible in 2020! We will be posting the reading plan each week in the Walk With Me Ministry group on Facebook and on instagram. Reading plans will be posted Sunday night and discussion will be throughout the week on Facebook. For more information, email alysa.bajenaru@gmail.com.

Prayer: God, as we begin a new year may we fix our eyes on the living hope we have through the resurrection of Jesus and run our races with the joy and freedom you have gifted us through His sacrifice.

Suggested Reading: Galatians 5
