“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” (James 1:2-3)
Sometimes in life, it feels as though we are going through the same tests or trials over and over again. We go from team to team but encounter the same problems. Or move from place to place, and encounter the same kind of neighbor. And we start to question God asking, “Why does this keep happening?!” I’ve come to learn that there are lessons in the test. There is purpose behind everything God does.
James 1:2-3 says “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”
??Our faith grows when we use it. And we use it when we feel what we’re going through is beyond our control; when it’s too hard for us to do on our own.
Imagine going to school and finding out there’s a big test you weren’t expecting. Naturally, you panic. Then you find out it’s open book and you can ask your teacher for help on any of the questions. But instead, you choose to focus on how hard and unexpected the test is. We do this on a daily basis. We choose to go through our tests alone. But, the awesome thing about God is that even in the midst of the test, He’s with us. God has equipped us with His Word that has the answers to our every problem AND He’s standing next to us just waiting for us to lean on him. He’s willing to give us the answers if we would just ask Him. Seek him. All we have to say is “Jesus! I need your help!” And He’s there. Every time.
I encourage you today to ask God to help you see the lessons in your test. You don’t have to do it alone.
Prayer: God thank you always being there for me. Although the test may come, I know that you have a greater purpose. It is all working for my good. Amen.
