9 - 1 - 1

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91:1)

A friend of mine likes to say that this verse is the Christian’s 9-1-1 call. Note that two names are used for God: “The “Most High” and the “Almighty.” We can dwell in the shelter of the Most High, the one above all others, in times of need and He will protect us. The Almighty one, the All Powerful God, will shadow us from the difficulties that come our way.

When we face problems in life, we can call on the Lord and trust Him to be our “refuge and fortress.” “I will say to the LORD, My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust” (Psalm 91:2).” No matter the problems we face, we can TRUST our LORD to help us through them.

“If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says GOD, “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times” (Psalm 91:15-15). With all that has happened these last few months, many fear the future. But when we trust God, He promises to be with us, I love how this verse suggests that He will hold our hand through anything. “Do not fear anything, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

When you are going through difficult times, dial 9-1-1, call out to the Most High, trust in the Almighty. He wants to hold your hand through it all!

Question: Have you cried out to God and ask Him to help you through these difficult days? Are you trusting Him to hold your hand through it all?

Challenge: Take time today and pray through Psalm 91 and give the Most High all your troubles and fears.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for holding my hand today as I go through the challenges ahead of me. Thank you for being with me in the middle of it all. I trust you completely.
