No Condemnation

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)

We are in a trying time. Families stressed. School turned upside down. Jobs at risk. Financial security threatened. We have faced unpleasant realities about ourselves that we did not expect.

As a pastor, “on-line church” was an unexpected blow to my ego. Feelings of insecurity and failure blackened my spiritual horizon. Was anyone watching my videos? Who would bother to click on our church services, when they had hundreds to choose from? Does my message really meet needs? I had not realized how much I depended on the presence of people in my ministry to guide, encourage and strengthen my work. When I took a spiritual inventory of my response, I was not proud of what I saw.

Then I remembered the words of Romans 8:1. Because of Jesus, I am okay. I do not live under any condemnation from my Heavenly Father. It is not my sermons, my Bible studies or my words of wisdom that give my life meaning and purpose. It is my Savior Jesus who does that!

Maybe you too have discovered some unpleasant realities about yourself in recent weeks. You have not responded with maturity. Stress has exposed hidden weakness. If you are in Christ; if you are an adopted son or daughter of God; then hear these words: your are not condemned. The Spirit of life that comes through Jesus, shines brighter than those failures. Stand up, take hold of the Father’s hand and live for Him, uncondemned!

Question: Have you been disappointed with yourself?

Challenge: Let your relationship with Jesus, lift you above condemnation.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thanks for giving me what I need to navigate life with security and strength.
