Tell Your Story Often

“Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the adversary.” (Psalms 107:2)

Those of us who have experienced the redemptive grace of a loving God have a story to tell. To proclaim His greatness for His rescue of our souls is not only the natural, compelling response to His kindness... it is our mandate as His children: “ ... and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

Even when Peter and John were threatened by the Jewish leaders with severe consequences for preaching about Jesus, they fearlessly pressed on in the face of great peril. Their response to the warnings: “As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20).

To be a witness to the Lord’s goodness does not require a seminary degree. It simply requires that we do as Peter and John did - speak of what we have seen God do in our own life. The Gospel of John provides us just such an example in the testimony of a man born blind who was miraculously healed by Jesus.

The Pharisees learn of the healing when the man is brought before them. They are reluctant to ascribe the healing to Jesus, for then they would be forced to consider His deity. Their questioning is intense, and they repeatedly ask him to describe how the healing took place. Not able to convince them, the formerly blind man distills his explanation to its most basic essence: “... one thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see” (John 9:25).

Question: Have you experienced God’s grace by accepting His gift of eternal life through the Savior?

Challenge: If yes, “say so” to a world that needs to know of His offer of salvation. If no, examine the claims of Jesus and ask Him to reveal to you what is true.

Prayer: Lord, show me your plan for my life, and make me responsive to your will.
