Are You Prepared?

“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…” (1 Peter 3:15)

We have all been in this extended “time out” now for several months, certainly well beyond what any of us were expecting. What has the Lord been teaching us during this time? What has He been doing in our hearts and in the hearts of those in the world all around us? Has He been preparing us to be his divinely appointed instruments to share the Gospel with those now seeking answers? As the cloud lifts and we re-engage in life, are we ready to hit the ground running? Are we eager to share the only true hope known to man, Jesus Christ?

In the above passage, Peter encourages us to “always be prepared” to share the hope that we have in Christ. We must remember that wherever the Lord may lead us in the coming days and whoever He may bring into our path does not occur by chance. These are divine appointments from the Lord himself!

Acts 17:26-27 tells us, “and he determined the times set for (us) and the exact places where (we) should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him, though he is not far from each one of us.” This is amazing truth! This is not random at all! The Lord himself has determined the “exact places” where we should be, the exact people we should meet, so that some would reach out to him and find him.

Are we prepared? Are we ready? Are we eager to share the truth of the Gospel?

Question: Is your heart set on Christ? Are your eyes open to the opportunities all around you?

Challenge: Are we praying about the divine appointments God has for us in the coming days?

Prayer: O Lord, open my eyes and my heart so that I am ready when opportunities arise.
