“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:6-7)

One spring I had a headache. Literally, I had a headache for the ENTIRE spring - yep, all 3 months of it. I had 3 rounds of antibiotics, 2 different nasal sprays, a CT scan, and an MRI (this is the part where you sing out "and a partridge in a pear tree"). There was also allergy testing by a doctor who determined that since it didn't appear to be allergy related that I must have a brain tumor or an aneurism and maybe I should see a neurologist. That was not a fun phone call to make to my husband.

My problem, as it turned out, was not a brain tumor, but a chronic sinus infection that had worked its way into some very deep cavities near my brain. Through all of this, God was - and is - still God. Had my headaches been a more serious problem, I would still have praised Him, because He is in control.

This life is temporary, we all know that. What we do and how we react to situations in life should reflect him. Does this mean that every morning that I woke up in pain I said, "Praise the Lord! This is great!"? Um, no... There were many days when I complained and pouted. However, when I matured in the situation, I started to praise God for the things that were good in life and for all that He has done for me.

I had those sinus headaches from time to time for quite a while, but as things improved, the Lord continued to be my faithful companion and my healer. And I continue to praise his name!

Prayer: Lord, on the days when I can't seem to get it together, please remind me of all I have in you. Thank you for your grace which daily covers me and your love which has no limits.
