A Path to His Presence

“At that moment, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split...” (Matthew 27:51)

One thing that is just so annoying about baseball is that if our guys have a question about a decision that has been made about their career, they can’t really just call the head brass and have a conversation. Sure, they can talk to their coaches or the trainer to get some insight, but the direct line to the top decision maker is not very simple or accessible. It can be frustrating to no end.

How great is it that our relationship with God isn’t like that?! In Old Testament times, if God’s people wanted to communicate with Him they had to go to the temple with sacrifices and have a priest go to the Lord on their behalf. There was a heavy curtain in the temple that separated the place where the Holy Spirit dwelled, only the highest priest could enter. It was not simple or direct. But thanks to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, the curtain was torn forever and we have direct access to our Savior through the Holy Spirit who lives in us. There is no degree of separation between God and His children! When we set our minds on the Holy Spirit, it fills us with life and peace instead of the stresses of this world.

In a lifestyle that so often leaves many questions unanswered, it is so reassuring to know that Christ is with us and always available to us. He has provided a path to his presence that we are always free to access.
